Local Biodiversity Outlooks provides a snapshot of the many on-the-ground initiatives being led by indigenous peoples and local communities that contribute to the successful implementation of the Strategic Plan for Biodiversity 2011-2020 as well as other related global agreements such as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris Agreement on Climate Change.

This publication presents the perspectives and experiences of indigenous peoples and local communities (IPLCs) on the implementation of the Strategic Plan for Biodiversity 2011-2020. It is intended to complement the fourth Global Biodiversity Outlook (GBO-4) by presenting a selection of IPLCs’ contributions towards realising each of the Strategic Plan’s goals and targets.
